One-liner
Forecourt helps UK drivers find the cheapest fuel prices nearby, along their route, or near their favourite places.

Developer
What it does
Forecourt shows real-time fuel prices at petrol stations across the United Kingdom. Prices are sourced from the UK Government's Fuel Finder API, which collects data directly from station operators. The app refreshes automatically throughout the day so prices stay current.
Users can search for stations in six different ways:
- Nearby
- Stations in the visible map area, updating as you pan and zoom.
- Along a route
- Enter a start and end and see stations within 500 m of your driving route, with multiple route alternatives.
- Near a place
- Save locations like Home, Work or Gym, and find stations near each one.
- By location search
- Search for any UK address or place name.
- Favourites
- Bookmark stations for quick access.
- Recents
- Stations you've recently viewed.
Every station shows fuel prices (petrol and diesel variants), opening hours with bank holiday awareness, amenities (car wash, toilets, LPG, AdBlue, etc.), and contact information. Users can get directions via Apple Maps, share station details, set location-based reminders, or add stations to a home screen widget.

The value proposition
Stop overpaying for fuel. Find the cheapest prices near you. Save money every time you fill up.
Just 10p per litre cheaper, filling up every week, could save you over £250 per year.
The maths: 10p/litre × 50 litres × 52 weeks = £260 saved annually. For the cost of a monthly subscription, users can potentially save hundreds of pounds per year.
Privacy
We don't collect your personal data. No accounts, no emails, no tracking — nothing that identifies you leaves your device.
- No accounts required
- No sign-up, no email, no personal data collected.
- Location stays on-device
- Used only while the app is open, never sent anywhere.
- No advertising networks
- No tracking, no social media integrations.
- Payments via Apple only
- The developer never sees payment details.
- UK data protection
- Compliant with UK law; since no personal data is held, data rights are effectively already met.
- Full transparency
- Both a plain-English summary and full legal document are accessible in the app.
Data source
Fuel price data comes from the UK Government's Fuel Finder API, which collects pricing information from petrol station operators across the country. The app includes a clear disclaimer:
While every effort is taken to display accurate information, prices change throughout the day and may not always be up to date. Always verify the displayed price at the pump before refuelling.
Data refreshes automatically on a regular schedule, with efficient caching (ETags / Last-Modified) to minimise bandwidth. Background refresh keeps widget data current even when the app isn't open.
Business model
- 30-day free trial — full access to all features from day one, no payment details required upfront

Talking points
For journalists
- UK drivers face significant price variation between stations — even neighbouring stations can differ by 10p+ per litre
- Government-sourced data means prices come from the same feed that powers the official Fuel Finder service
- Privacy-first approach in an era of data harvesting — no accounts, no tracking, no ads
For app reviewers
- Clean, native iOS interface — feels like a first-party Apple app
- Route search is a standout feature — most competitors only show nearby stations
- Widget support means checking prices without even opening the app
- 30-day trial with no payment upfront removes friction
For technical audiences
- Pure SwiftUI with no UIKit bridging
- Modern observation framework (
@Observable) instead of Combine - Custom SQLite wrapper instead of Core Data — lighter weight, full control
- StoreKit 2, Swift concurrency (async/await), efficient ETag-based caching, comprehensive UI test coverage
